Greyton MTB Classic
20 June 2009
The GREYTON MTB CLASSIC just keeps getting better every year and this one you definately don't want to miss. You can choose to cycle or to run across the farms in the heart of the countryside surrounding Greyton, in the Overberg. Magnificent private farms at the foot of the Sonderend Mountain Range, are accessible only for this event. The farmers are working hard at cutting more singletrack through the pineforest. The terrain is varied, from steep rocky uphills and sharp fast technical downhills. Best to sharpen up for this challenge - it‘s tough, but spectacular and well worth your effort.
The 25km route gets to enjoy all the same great routes as the 45km, excluding a few of the steep climbs. Thule will have a festive waterpoint on top of a hill which is a light aircraft landing strip. This will be the 25km and 45km split. Tractor ride available from the venue to take spectators up to one of the dams so that they can watch the cyclists. Friday night before the race, the well known Oak and Vigne restaurant in the village is having a pasta night. All pre-entries can collect their race numbers at the restaurant between 18h30 and 21h00. Bookings essential for supper as space is limited. Sponsors have really come to the fore again this year, and great prizes are up for grabs. To name a few, Sportsmans Warehouse, First Ascent, USN, Thule, Rav-X, Buff Headgear and more. Goodie bags for online entries and pre-race lucky draw.
